Santa flew into Springwells Park on very balmy Friday evening in the first full week of December.

About 60 children along with their moms, dads, grandparents, and friends had a chance to chat with the one and only, definitely real, Santa Claus. As is tradition, the city provided the Dearborn sound truck which rang out carols loud enough to draw people out of their homes. With roof top lights flashing, the Dearborn Police made sure two cars and officers were on hand to properly escort Santa and make sure all his visitors were safe and seen. Each child received a gift from Santa that included candy and a very spiffy flashing Holiday bracelet.

I would like to thank all the volunteers that helped make the night a success.

Kim Ailes picked up and cheerfully dispensed the hot chocolate donated by Park Place.

Chuck Demski and Lindel Salow worked crowd control and safety as they helped children and families in and out of the bus provided by the city of Dearborn transportation department. Therese Terns and Betsy Todd were Santa’s helpers as the elves were too busy at the North Pole to travel. A special thank you to Dan Keelan, who does anything I need and is my biggest supporter.

I would also like to thank all my neighbors who support this event by donating. It means a great deal to me to have this special event funded by our community.

Santa has already confirmed with me that he will be back next year to visit his favorite neighborhood. I will be sure to keep you posted as plans firm up.

I hope all our neighbors will join us next year for this great community event.

Thanks for your support and enthusiasm!

See You Next Year,  Cindy
